How we work

Who you deal with, and who does the job

When you get in touch about a room, Todd is the one who answers. He comes out to see it, gives you the price and is the one you ring until the work is done.

  • You deal with one person. The same person looks after you for the whole job, so you always know who to ring.
  • Our own team does the work.Nothing is subcontracted. We do every job ourselves, from the prep to the sealer.
  • If something isn't right, we come back.Tell us what's wrong and we'll come back and fix it.
  • We're fully insured. We're fully insured on every job, big or small.

Our team

Meet Todd and Max

  • Todd, who runs Perth Microcement, standing with his arms folded

    Todd

    Runs Perth Microcement

Todd started working with concrete and cement when he was 17, and he's been doing it for over 30 years. That includes GFRC, which is glass fibre reinforced concrete: concrete strengthened with fine glass fibres so it can be made in thin panels.

He's a carpenter and joiner by trade, and he's a concreter as well.

Todd also has a background in commercial project management. He holds an MBA and a diploma in project management.

  • Max, microcement specialist, standing outside a shopfront in a navy polo shirt and cap

    Max

    Microcement specialist

Max is from Europe, and he's been laying microcement for nearly 25 years.

He runs his own business in Melbourne, doing microcement bathrooms, kitchens, floors and feature walls.

His Melbourne business also does Venetian plaster, a lime plaster that's trowelled on in thin coats and polished to a shine.

Before we start

The checks before a coat goes on

  • Every tile gets tapped.

When we're going over tiles, we tap each one first. A tile that sounds hollow, called drummy, has come loose from the wall or floor behind it. We take it out and fit a new tile the same size and shape before any coating goes on.

  • We follow the maker's data sheets.

A data sheet is the maker's written instructions for a product. It says how to prepare the surface, how to mix the product and how to put it on. We prepare the surface and put every product on the way its data sheet says.
